How to Avoid Calling Wrong Person with TESLA Voice Commands

One of the benefits of owning a Tesla is being able to use voice commands to make hands-free calls while driving. However, sometimes the onboard computer may automatically call someone with a similar name, causing frustration and inconvenience. Luckily, there’s a simple solution to this problem.

To prevent the Tesla computer from calling the wrong person, all you have to do is spell out the name of the person you want to call using voice commands. This is particularly useful if the name is difficult for the system to recognize or if there are multiple people with similar names.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Press the voice command button on the steering wheel or touchscreen.
  2. Say “Call” followed by the person’s name.
  3. If the Tesla computer recognizes the name and shows you the right contact information, say “Call.” If not, spell out the person’s name using the phonetic alphabet.

For example, if you want to call someone named “Jean,” you would say “Call Jean.” If the Tesla computer shows you the right contact information, say “Call.” If not, spell out the name using the phonetic alphabet: “J-UH-N.”

By spelling out the person’s name, you can avoid calling the wrong person and save time and frustration while driving.
